+++ Note: This year, we are offering three editions of the business simulation game. In addition to Startup Essentials (3CP) [GER] and Scale up (3CP) [GER], this English-language Business Simulation Game – Management Essentials (3CP) [EN] is available. +++
Would you like to understand how companies really work – and what it takes to make good decisions under pressure? You and your team take over a virtual company and compete in a dynamic market environment. Over three intensive days, you will experience how strategic decisions in marketing, pricing, production and performance management affect business success.
The simulation is hands-on, interactive and designed to strengthen your entrepreneurial mindset as well as your core management skills. It is especially suitable for students from different disciplines and international backgrounds who want to gain a practical introduction to business decision-making. The course is limited for 30 students.
What can you expect?
Day 1: Introduction, business fundamentals and simulation start
You begin with an introduction to the simulation, the market environment and the key business concepts behind successful management decisions. Together with your team, you take responsibility for a fictional company and define your first strategic direction. You will analyse your starting position, work with initial KPIs and make the first decisions that shape your company’s performance.
Day 2: Deepening the simulation and managing under competition
The second day focuses on decision-making in a competitive environment. You will interpret business indicators, adjust your strategy and respond to market developments. Topics such as pricing logic, cost structures, marketing decisions and competitive behaviour become directly tangible through the simulation.
Group work phase: strategic reflection and pitch preparation
Between the second and third session, you will work in teams on a short strategic written assignment. This transfer task helps you reflect on your decisions, structure your arguments and prepare your final presentation.
Day 3: Final round, pitch and reflection
On the final day, you return to the simulation for the last strategic round and present your team’s approach in a short pitch. Afterwards, the results are discussed together: What worked, what did not, and why? This final reflection helps you better understand how management teams think, decide and learn in complex environments.
Who is the programme intended for?
The course is designed for students of all disciplines who want to build a practical understanding of business administration, strategy and entrepreneurial decision-making. It is particularly well suited for those who enjoy teamwork, want to strengthen their analytical thinking and would like to experience management in a realistic setting.
Why should you participate?
Because this is more than a simulation. It is an opportunity to experience how entrepreneurial and managerial thinking actually works. You will learn how decisions are made under uncertainty, how teams deal with competition and how business success can be analysed and influenced. At the same time, you strengthen skills that matter far beyond the classroom: strategic thinking, teamwork, communication, KPI-based reasoning and confident presentation.
The Business Simulation Game is part of the „Entrepreneurship Basics“ programme. Successful participants will receive 3 of the 6 CP required to complete the „Entrepreneurship Basics“ programme.
The following registration applies to all three days of the event. Successful participation is worth 3 CP. To receive the credits, participants must attend the full programme and submit a short written assignment after the simulation.
